Pastor John H. Mason
Pastor, preacher, teacher, church planter, evangelist, administrator, and servant of the people, John H. Mason has been in the ministry for 39 years and pastor for 31 years. In these various God-given roles, he has counseled and consoled, mentored and motivated, and taught and touched the lives of many people. He faithfully served at Alpha Community Baptist Church in Bolingbrook, IL under the leadership of W. Marvin Rorer until he relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1987. After relocating to Atlanta, John and his family joined Greenforest Community Baptist Church in Decatur, GA where he served in ministry in several capacities under the leadership of the late Dr. George O. McCalep, Jr.
Realizing that educational preparation was a mandate in order to lead God’s flock, Rev. Mason earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX and graduated magnum cum laude with his M.Div. from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA.
Rev. Mason currently serves as pastor at Providence Community Baptist Church in Marietta, GA where his faithful leadership has continued since 2001. Pastor Mason is highly innovative and continues to implement ministries and programs that nurture the growth of the Providence Community Baptist Church family. His priority as under-shepherd of the church is to see God’s people grow in grace and the saving knowledge of God’s Word. He encourages them to “Think Big, Act Boldly, Tempered with Prayer.”
He is currently an adjunct professor for the New Orleans Theological Seminary, Leavell College. In addition, Pastor Mason is a proven accounting executive having over 50+ years' experience in budgeting & finance, personnel, administration, facility & property management, supervisory management, and training. He has been responsible for budgets of up to 10.2 million dollars. Currently he works with small and medium-size churches teaching and training their staff about budgets, finances, and church management software.
Rev. Mason and his lovely wife, Maudriella, have been happily married for 52 years. They have been blessed with two children: Seleta, an accountant; and Eric, a first responder and three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
